Glotto
Privacy policy
Last updated 19 September 2026
This policy explains what information Glotto stores, what it collects, and which third parties are involved in operating the site. Glotto has no user accounts and no server-side database of player activity.
1.Information stored on your device
Glotto uses your browser's local storage to record two items:
- Your guesses and outcome for each daily puzzle, so that reloading the page does not end your round and so that streaks persist between visits.
- A flag indicating that the instructions screen has been shown.
This information is written by your browser and remains on your device. It is not transmitted to Glotto or to any third party, it is not synchronised across devices, and it is deleted when you clear your browser's storage for this site. Glotto has no means of retrieving or inspecting it.
2.Information collected about visitors
Glotto does not request or collect names, email addresses or any other information that identifies you. There are no accounts, registration or contact forms.
Aggregate visit statistics are collected using Cloudflare Web Analytics, which measures page views, referring sites and approximate country of origin. This service does not use cookies, does not track visitors across other websites and does not construct individual profiles. Glotto receives totals only.
3.Third parties involved in delivering the site
The following providers necessarily process your IP address in order to deliver the site to your browser:
- Cloudflare, Inc. provides hosting, content delivery and security services. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
- Google LLC supplies the typefaces used by the site through Google Fonts, which your browser requests when a page loads. See the Google privacy policy.
Glotto does not have access to either provider's records of individual visits.
4.Cookies
Current status: Glotto does not set cookies. The local storage described in section 1 is not a cookie and is not transmitted with requests.
Should cookies be introduced โ which would occur if advertising or a cookie-based analytics service were added, as described in section 5 โ a consent notice will be presented before any non-essential cookie is set, and this policy will be updated in advance.
5.Advertising
Current status: Glotto does not currently display advertising. The terms in this section describe how advertising will operate if and when it is introduced, and take effect at that point.
Advertising on Glotto would be supplied by Google AdSense. Under that arrangement:
- Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve advertisements on this site.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve advertisements to visitors based on their visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- Third-party vendors and advertising networks other than Google may also serve advertisements and may use cookies for the same purpose.
- Personalised advertising may be declined through Google Ads Settings. Opting out of personalised advertising by other vendors is possible through aboutads.info and Your Online Choices.
- Visitors in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area will be presented with a consent notice before any advertising cookie is set, and may decline or withdraw consent at any time.
6.Correspondence
If you contact Glotto by email, the message and your email address will be retained for as long as is necessary to respond and to act on the matter raised, and will not be used for any other purpose. Email addresses are not added to any mailing list and are not disclosed to third parties.
7.Children
Glotto is suitable for visitors of all ages. Because no information identifying any visitor is collected, no information is knowingly collected from children.
8.Your rights
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have rights of access, rectification and erasure in respect of personal data held about you, together with rights to restrict or object to processing. As Glotto holds no information that identifies individual visitors, there will ordinarily be no records to which these rights can be applied; enquiries may nonetheless be sent to the address in section 10.
Information stored on your device under section 1 may be deleted at any time by clearing your browser's storage for this site.
Complaints regarding the handling of personal data may be made to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
9.Changes to this policy
This policy may be amended from time to time. Where a change materially affects how visitor information is handled, the revised policy will be published, and the date at the head of this page updated, before the change takes effect.
10.Contact
Enquiries relating to this policy may be sent to help@glottogame.com.
